Resolutions

I have always been a sucker for resolutions. I have always set myself up for failure as far as these so called resolutions are concerned. I have never really even made a resolution that is too out of the realm of reality to not keep it either. Usually it is something as silly as making my bed every day or making sure I don't fall asleep before I wash my face, but alas, it never works for me. This year I am again going to challenge myself and try to keep this resolution for the rest of my life. The other day, Patrick was talking to a woman at work about how fast kids grow up. She has a 17 year old, and she said she couldn't remember the last time she actually held him. There was a day you know that was the last day she held that boy in her arms, but she just couldn't remember it. How true is that. I write down all of Connor's Firsts. First word, step, tooth, but none of the lasts. When was the last day he crawled? I cannot remember the last time I nursed him. Did I realize that day that there would be no other times like that with my little boy? I don't know because I can't remember. I want to remember these lasts so that I can savor the moment and not take advantage of one second I have with this little guy. I told my Dad this morning as I was squeezing Connor that I hope when he's 17 he still let's me pick him up and squeeze him till he grunts, but I know he'll tire of that one day, so I need to remember the "lasts" as he grows up and becomes more independent. I'll let you know if I am able to keep this year's resolution.

just one word for you...
