Flu Snafu

This is me with the flu, strep throat and pink eye. Yahoo!
What is it that you like to do when you have the flu? Me? Well...I like to cover myself with stickers while curled up on the couch sweating it out.
You know what else I like? Great friends! Friends that will make a huge pot of delicious soup and come over, risking it all to make sure I'm feeling better soon! Well...maybe she wasn't risking it all, it was more EXTREMELY "Protected" to ensure our sickie germs never made it into her home! Well thought out my friend! Thanks for the laugh!

Daddy's Day Home

Soooo...Here is a picture by picture overview of our afternoon. Forgive me, I haven't blogged in awhile, I got a tad picture happy. Not to mention I had so much fun I just couldn't take not putting everything in! Weeeeeee! "That's what you say when you're having fun. You refer to yourself and...some other people." (Blog entry below) PS. That quote is for you Marie!

Get Ready!
Get Set!
GO! Jordyn's first time sledding
She was such a trooper climbing the hill
I know they're thinking they're going to win just because they are boys
Doing it all by herself
Giving me a heart attack
Pretending she was scaling a mountain
Carrying his sled up all by himself
Big brother and baby sister screaming down the hill together
Following him like a baby duckling
They raced each other. I'm pretty sure it was a tie!
My angel
Made a great angel
Chilly the snowman
Predictable self portrait of "us"
Love Note in the Snow
Today I begged Patrick to stay home with us and have a family day. I wanted to do something fun, just the 4 of us that did not include being home. So I decided we would go... SLEDDING!
With a sour face, Patrick loaded the car with the sleds and we headed on out to "our" little hill at the park. I'll tell you what! He didn't have a sour face once he saw how darn excited his babies were sledding down the hill. I think he forgot for a moment how wonderful it was sledding with Connor last year.
This year...Even better! This time it was boys against girls. Jordyn was a riot! Fearless! She allowed me to take her down the hill her first few times, but once she got the hang of it we walked up the hill together, she looked up at me and said, "I DO IT!" After that, there was no going back. The girl was hooked. She was speeding down that hill racing her equally fearless brother and squealing in complete delight.
Patrick and I just stood in complete amazement. They are both growing up so fast, and I feel like I am losing control of how fast it is going. I want to freeze these moments and allow myself to experience them over and over and over again. I have a feeling if this snow sticks for a few more weeks we'll be going again this winter. They, , are a blast, and I can't wait to see them enjoy it again.

Funday

Just a quick update:
I'm writing this post from my iPhone so please forgive any misspellings. I am without my laptop this week which means I will be on a brief hiatus. Jordyn and I are feeling much better. Thank God for high powered antibiotics, they sucker punched my flu/strep throat/pink eye nightmare bug right in the kisser! I am afraid that Connor may be coming down with our same bug. Please pray for a miracle!! See you soon

For Love

If the way to a man's heart is really through his stomach, then I am pretty sure my hubby is full blown in love with me today. For his Valentine's gift I gave him menu options a few weeks ago, and this is what he chose. We had a wonderful Valentine's Day, aside from the flu and strep throat and sheer exhaustion.
The kids and I went with Papa to gym today while Patrick went to Cleveland for a guy's morning. Papa and I took the kids to the store and let them pick out their Valentine's Day gift. Then we all had lunch together and snuggled down for a wonderful afternoon nap. Our whole day revolved around food and snuggling. I honestly could not imagine a better Valentine's Day. I was here at home with the people I love most. Thank you Patrick, Connor and Jordyn for being my Valentine's! I love you!

Technical Changes

This blog may be going through some technical changes. If you would like continued access to read the blog please let me know. Your name will have to be added manually by me I think. I have the flu right now, so I'm really not in the mood for this today, but as soon as I have the energy I have to figure out how much of a pain this will be to my not so technologically blessed family members out there. Thanks all. Off to wallow in my sickness now! Night Night.

Powder Coated

The morning began blissfully. I got to snuggle a little extra with my hubby before he exited the bed. I opened the windows to feel the not so freezing air drift in through the window, I made everyone breakfast and thought to myself, "Self...It's a wonderful day. I'm going to clean."
I asked the kids what they wanted to do while I was taking a few minutes to scrub. They wanted to color with their crayons, so I got out their coloring books and crayons and let them CREATE! Then I heard the music begin to blare. I had to stop and giggle as they boogied.
I again got down on my hands and knees scrubbing the floor when Jordyn came into the bathroom and asked for a towel. I turned my head up to look into her sweet angelic eyes...And then I heard the Earth stop moving! She was covered from head to toe in a white powder. I jumped up to see where the powder came from when I saw Connor in the kitchen making a snow angel a top a baking powder flurry!
I panicked! I was in total shock. I truly don't know if I have ever seen a mess quite so ENORMOUS! I picked them both up and brought them into the bathroom because that is all I could think to do. I had them strip down and I showered them off as they screamed BLOODY MURDER! Jordyn screaming," Help me Connor." Connor Screaming I'm scared Jordyn"They were so mad that I was such a party pooper. After they got dressed I made them both sit in their rooms and think about what they did (Yeah Right), While I got back down on my hands and knees and scrubbed...and maybe I wimpered just a little bit.

Baby Love

Sooo. If you think you're having a bad day. Look at these pictures of my baby love. She went to the Dr. yesterday and she has double pink eye, a double ear infection and a sinus infection. She woke up this morning whimpering. I walked into her room, and she was sitting in her bed holding her hands over her eyes repeating, "It hurts". I swooped her up and quickly tried a warm wash cloth to wipe away the yuck. After 15 minutes she still couldn't open her eyes. She was soooo good. I said to her, "Let Mommy help you." And she laid there and said "OK. Can't see." Oh my heart was breaking. Finally I was able to wipe away enough yuck that she cold open her eyes, but I can't bare the thought of her going through this again. Any ideas on how to quickly wipe the crusties away?
So miserable
These pictures don't even show the puffy red muck
She's trying to show no pain! :)

Date Night

Last night we had date night with the Pamboukis's. We started our night off at Momocho in Ohio City. My new favorite Restaurant! Thanks Casey for the heads up!! We started off with a sampler of guacamole. We ordered traditional, blue cheese with garlic confit and a goat cheese. They were amazing! I then ordered a sampler of margaritas. Traditional, Blood Orange and Pineapple. So delicious! For dinner I got roasted artichoke hearts smothered in goat cheese. Patrick got braised beef in a coffee ancho sauce. Seriously, it was DEVINE! Desserts were a tad disappointing, but the glow of dinner for sure over shadowed that part of the meal. They also had the Best Mexican Coffee ever.
After we left Momocho, we headed to Tremont where our first stop was at 806 Martini and Wine Bar. Eh. Our martini's were not very good at all, except Nick's with his glorious rese's cup in the bottom. The atmosphere was really very cool. We didn't try any wine, but I am sure it was wonderful.
Next stop was Lolita. We ordered mussels, a spicy sausage pizza and brussel sprouts. Everything was incredible. We will definately be back!
Pictures are in reverse order of the night

I love you MoMucho even when you say things that tick me off :)~

It's for the Kids

Today Patrick and I volunteered for the Children's Hospital Have a Heart Do Your Part Radiothon. All week long I have been practicing to not cry...quite unsuccessfully.
Sooo, I began bawling in the car on the way there. A heavy sob began to break out as I walked through the parking deck and continued on as I entered the doors. The thought of sick babies, hurting was so overwhelming for me. I tried to focus on the fact that I was there to help, and that the money we were collecting was going to help these babies to recover. I was a mess! I had to focus on willing my phone to ring(not many phones were ringing), just so that I wouldn't focus on the thought of babies being sick, and sad families. I'm not sure if you know this about me, but I tend to be a little bit of a storm cloud on occasions. Today I felt stormy. But my dark clouds had a few silver linings. Patrick got quite a few high donations on his line. They thought he was their good luck charm! I however, had to resort to calling my friends and family and begging. It worked! Thanks Friends and Family!! Even though I was an emotional wreck, I am glad that we did it. And I'm even happier that we got to do this together. Hopefully next year we will raise more!

Loud Music Friday

Today we had loud music Friday! We do this every once in awhile when my head is not cluttered with muck. We turn the music up as loud as possible and we DANCE. We let it all go and just emote! We teach each other the latest and greatest dance moves and we laugh together. I've decided Loud Music Friday is my favorite kind of Friday!!

For the Birds

This morning the kids and I were reading a story about snow and how it covers the ground and makes it hard for the animals outside to find food, so we decided to make our own secret recipe with 7 herbs and spices to tantalize the taste buds of our little woodland friends.  We pulled out the cuisinart chopper and began throwing in bread and nuts and seeds and a little bit of honey just so they know we love them. I pulled out one of the kids plastic snack bowls to bring it to the door.  Connor began FREAKING out! "No Mommy, don't give them my bowl, they will make it disgusting!!!!!!!" So I tell him I will save the bowl and just throw our meal out the door into the yard so we can watch them from the window.  That made him much happier.
Attempt #1
I open the front door, Max trips me, (because he's a heathen and could care less that there are starving woodland creatures outside, it's all about him!) I fall out the front door in my SOCKS the food then scatters and falls into the snow. Gone!
Connor begins to scream, " AWWWW, I wanted to feed them Mommy. It's gone. Bad Max!!"

I quickly reassure the kids that we can make more and this time we will set the food right outside the window on a snow pile so we can have a front row seat to all the action.  Yahoo! Mommy saves the day.
Attempt #2
I put the food in the same bowl, knock Max back with my iron fist (just kidding! But don't think it wasn't on my mind) I go outside, this time with my warm, fuzzy boots on and set the bowl with the delectable goodies right on top of the snow mound for easy access. From inside I hear, " NO!  OH NO!  Disgusting!  They are going to make it DISGUSTING!!!!!! Mommy NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"   I look inside the window with a frozen smile on my face to see Connor running around in circles screaming in hysterics.  He sends himself to his room and won't come out.  Foiled again!
Attempt #3
I walk into Connor's room and ask him if it would make his life happier to put the food into one of my bowls.  He declines and says he just wants a hug.  Done!  So we sit on the couch and watch and wait.  I can only assume with the awesome bird calls belting from Connor and Jordyn's lungs and Bailey and Max barking at each and every snow flake that the birds and squirrels have boycotted our diner.  You know what I say to them?  Beggars can't be choosers! Chaos is good once you get used to it!!

UPDATE
* I am once again a hero!!*
Do you know how much I had to pay this squirrel?  They ain't cheap!
But she stopped by 4 times to munch on our meal and we sat very still and watched her enjoy
Thank you Ms. Squirrel!

I Heart Monday's

Connor, Jordyn and I went to the library this morning and we learned all about Valentine's Day. We learned about love and doing nice things for the people we love. We also read a book about raining hearts, and when we got home Connor asked if I could make it rain hearts. This was the best that I could do! We made all of our heart shapes and then wrote our names on them along with some cheesy Valentine phrases! I love when we talk about love. Connor and Jordyn have both told me about 25 times that they love me since we got home. :) Nothing better than that!

Oh No The Big 3-0

Happy Birthday Knuckle Nick! I believe my favorite quote of the evening was from my husband. "Here's to Nick turning 30 yet again! I'm glad I have been able to be there every time!" What a fun night.
