Pumpkin Hunting

If I haven't told you yet, we love Fall in this house. All that goes along with it. I love the falling temperatures, the big bulky sweaters, hot mugs of cider, pumpkins everywhere you go, ghosts on the front lawn, and crunchy leaves. We wanted to begin a tradition in our family of taking the kids to a pumpkin patch to pick out their own pumpkins. We went with our friends the Paratore's to their favorite "haunt" the Red Wagon Farm. It was a brisk 90 degrees, but we had a great time. The kids played in a hay bail, then a hay maze, then we went on a hay ride, had some wonderfully cold cider and then Patrick, my hero, did the pumpkin grab. This is when our big burly husbands get to go into the pumpkin patch and grab as many pumpkins as they can hold. It is much harder than it seems. This was Patrick's first time doing this and he was a tad over zealous in the beginning. He started out with 6 pumpkins, attempted the lift. 5 pumpkins, lift was again attempted, and my strong hubby then attempted 4 pumpkins. The lift was good and we went home with 4 beautiful pumpkins. Now, they have quite a few rules about the lift. No holding stems, and I learned it has nothing to do with strength, but geometry. Trying to balance the pumpkins with their odd shapes is quite difficult. I'm proud of you Patrick. You got us one each to carve. What a fun day we had!

Cassie,
I have never left a comment till now. I went thru your recent pictures and wow! The kids are getting so big and cuter every day! Your house looks awesome also! I wish I could be there for Connor's b-day! I hope to travel soon to see them! Love, Christine
